Watermark Equine was founded in 2020 by three colleagues dedicated to care of the sport horse. Their top-level experience, passion for horses, dedication to patient care, and standard for excellence in customer service, opens the door for Watermark Equine to become an innovative leader in equine sports medicine.

Veterinarian
Emily Bruschi
Emily grew up on Long Island, where she had the opportunity to compete in the hunter, jumper, and equitation rings. She completed her undergraduate studies at Skidmore College before attending Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine. Upon graduation, Emily received The Gentle Doctor Award for outstanding patient care in the equine and farm animal hospital. She enjoyed a year-long internship at Fairfield Equine Associates before working at Miller and Associates from 2015-2020. In 2020 Emily joined her esteemed colleagues Dr. Erica Rosen, and Dr. Laura Faulkner in the formation of Watermark Equine. Her professional interests include sports medicine, endoscopic imaging, and emergency care; her personal interests include winning the affections of ornery ducks, spending time in the Adirondacks, and searching for her next equine partner.
Veterinarian
Laura Faulkner
Laura grew up on a small farm in Dover, MA and from an early age could be found spending all her free time in the barn. She came up through the junior ranks in New England doing the hunters, equitation, and jumpers, which cumulated in her earning the individual bronze at the North American Young Riders Championships in 2005. She attended college in California at Stanford University, and then returned to the east coast to attend vet school at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, she completed an internship at Fairfield Equine in Newtown, CT before returning to the University of Pennsylvania’s New Bolton Center to do a fellowship in large animal ultrasound and cardiology. From 2013 to 2020 she worked for Miller & Associates, before forming her own practice, Watermark Equine, with close colleagues and friends Dr. Erica Rosen and Dr. Emily Bruschi. She can still be found spending most of her free time at the barn with her horses Capri, Que Pasa, and Esty. Her veterinary interests include ultrasound, cardiology, lameness, and poor performance.

Erica Rosen
Erica, Rick to family and long-time friends, hails from scenic New Paltz, NY, and grew up riding and showing in the hunter ring. After completing her undergraduate degree at Cornell University, she moved to warmer weather to earn her DVM at the University of Florida. At the UF College of Veterinary Medicine, she worked closely with surgical faculty on research involving upper airway anatomy and function in performance horses and received the Barbaro Award and Scholarship for commitment to equine medicine and surgery. Following graduation, Erica joined Fairfield Equine Associates for a one-year internship, which allowed her to focus on the care and maintenance of the sport horse. From 2010 to 2020 Erica was part of the team at Miller & Associates, then founded Watermark Equine in 2020 with appreciated friends and colleagues Dr. Laura Faulkner and Dr. Emily Bruschi. Her veterinary interests include lameness and comprehensive performance horse care.
When not at work, Erica spends time riding, attempting to paint, and cheering on her favorite sports teams.
Technician
Kelci Orr
Kelci was born and raised in Connecticut. In 2013 she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Post University, where she earned a B.S. in Equine Business Management and certification for equine vet assisting. Since then she has grown within multiple equine veterinary practices to become an experienced technician. Kelci works out of the Ridgefield, CT office year-round, and is usually trailed by her sidekick Quill. In her spare time, she can be found barrel racing with her horse Samson, at the gym or having Pomeranian slumber parties.

Olivia Capuano
Olivia grew up in Prospect, CT, and started riding when she was 7. She rode mainly hunters/jumpers and eventing. along with some western. She went to Johnson & Wales University and graduated with BS in Equine Business Management and Riding. After graduating she moved to Aiken, SC. She spent time as a barn manager and then working at an equine hospital where she gained experience with lameness, reproductive medicine, emergency medicine, and equine surgery. She then worked at a small animal hospital, which she loved but she found she missed working with horses. She enjoys spending time with her two rescue dogs, Blu Harvey and Snoop Dogg, and scouting out larger than life Halloween decor
Technician
Maya Craffey
Maya grew up in Connecticut where she began riding at age 8. She graduated from Wesleyan University in 2018 with a double major in chemistry and government. After graduation, she worked as a medical scribe and as a groom and barn manager. She is excited to combine her knowledge and passion for both medicine and horses in her role as a technician. Outside of work, she enjoys baking, sending letters via snail mail, and spending time with her dog Honey.
Practice Manager
Kira Binder
Kira grew up in Virginia, Hawaii, and Western New York. After successfully competing in the hunter jumpers as a junior, Kira went on to ride and manage for many top riders and stables in the industry. With an intimate knowledge of the horse industry, a passion for organization, customer service, and attention to detail, Kira decided to dedicate herself to helping equine businesses find a more solid work/life balance. She joins Watermark Equine as the Practice Manager, along with her Tiny Assistant, Eleanor.
She spends her free time tending her growing plant collection, exploring new recipes, and planning travel adventures with her husband, Jonathan.
Technician
Melanie Schaffer
Melanie, "Mel", grew up in Connecticut where she began riding at 5 years old. She has ridden many disciplines but grew to love starting horses and teaching young ones the ropes. She graduated from Johnson & Wales University in 2018 with a Bachelors in Equine Business Management and Riding. After graduating she worked on a breeding farm in Indiana where she gained experience with foals, broodmares and stallions. Since then, she has worked in both small and large animal hospitals learning to love lameness and emergency medicine. Outside of work she enjoys hiking with her rescue dog, Kenai, riding, and spending time with her family.
